A Message from the President
For the Good of the Flathead.  Forever.

When the Flathead Community Foundation (FCF) was founded in 2005, it joined more than 500 community foundations in all 50 states that have one thing in common: helping people improve the quality of life and make a lasting difference in the places they love. Our goal is to encourage philanthropy in the Flathead Valley, primarily through the use of self-sustaining endowment funds.

As a non-profit public charity, the Flathead Community Foundation was created for the people of the entire Flathead Valley. Our all-volunteer Board has grown in strength and diversity, with both additions and departures in 2010. Every board member knows this community and wants to maintain its beauty, caring spirit, and cultural opportunities for current and future residents. We have one part-time administrator who brings professionalism and efficiency to the organization and we are actively seeking to raise financial support for a part-time Executive Director.

During the past five years, our generous donors have allowed the Flathead Community Foundation to provide over $400,000 in charitable giving to community service agencies in Kalispell, Lakeside, Somers, Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Whitefish. We are excited to participate in the development of this foundation, giving to people from all walks of life, creating a brighter future.

To initiate a fund, please contact the Flathead Community Foundation. We will partner with you and/or your financial advisors to personalize a fund that helps you maximize the tax and estate planning benefits of your charitable gift and make a positive impact on the present and future generations in the Flathead. We accept cash, life insurance, publicly traded securities, real estate, personal property, will bequests, retirement plans or the transfer of an existing private foundation.

Our Mission is to "enrich the lives of present and future generations by supporting philanthropy in the communities we serve." FCF enables you to make a lifelong gift to the Flathead. All of us who appreciate the unique qualities of the Flathead can support the Foundation and leave a legacy "for the good of the Flathead - forever."
