2011 Board of Directors and Committee Members

Marc Lorenzen, President, Somers

Dr. Marc Lorenzen is a semiretired environmental engineer who has lived in Somers full time for the last nine years. He has served on the Board of the Flathead Lakers, the Montana Water Pollution Advisory Board, and the Pacific Science Center Foundation Associates. He is the past President of PTI Environmental Services and Integral Consulting Inc. as well as past Vice President at Exponent, Inc. and Tetra Tech, Inc. He received his education in civil/sanitary/environmental engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and Harvard University.

 

Lisa Schnee, Vice President, Kalispell

Lisa Schnee has been privileged to serve as a volunteer for First Presbyterian Church, Samaritan House, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Kalispell Junior Miss Scholarship Program and the Bass Center. She is currently serving on the Flathead Valley Community College Foundation Board. She graduated from the University of Montana, attended UM School of Law and is a member of the Grizzly Scholarship Association. After twenty years of receiving the riches our wonderful community offers, Lisa hopes to invest her time and efforts for the enduring benefit of the Flathead Valley. She resides in Kalispell with her husband and three children.

 

Laura Long, Treasurer, Bigfork

Laura Long enjoyed a business career in the high-tech industry as the chief financial officer for a number of manufacturing and development operations, primarily in California. After moving to Montana in 1999, she has devoted her time to public service, serving on several nonprofit boards. She has been a trustee of the Flathead County Library System since 2003. She also holds the position of Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee for Angel Flight West, a nonprofit organization that provides private air transportation for individuals with medical or other compelling human needs throughout the 13 western states, and was recently elected to the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity Flathead Valley. Ms. Long has participated on a number of other nonprofit boards in the past ten years, including the American Association of University Women, where she held several offices in the local branch and served as Vice President of Finance at the national level, and seven years as a board member of the Flathead County Library Foundation, including tenure as its Treasurer.

 

John Waller, Secretary, Kalispell

Dr. John Waller is a wildlife biologist at Glacier National Park. He also operates the family farm near Creston, along with his wife, Amy, and 2 teenage children, Scott and Linda.

 

Carol Bibler, Kalispell

Carol Bibler joined the Flathead Community Foundation in 2007. She is a semi-retired geologist who grew up in the Flathead and returned with her husband and son in 2001 to raise bison and Tibetan yak on their ranch southwest of Kalispell. Carol is Vice-President of the Montana Land Reliance and, along with husband Jim Watson, volunteers for several community organizations.

 

Robert Blair, Whitefish

Dr. Robert Blair works as an emergency physician at Kalispell Regional Medical Center since 2005. As a Board member of the Flathead Community Foundation, he looks forward to helping maintain the natural beauty of where we live and improving the quality of life of those who live here. He resides in Whitefish with his wife and daughter.

 

Jeff Lewis, Lakeside

Jeff Lewis is a partner of Silver & Freedman, practicing in the areas of tax and estate planning, probate and trust administration, general business, and transactional, and real estate law. Admitted to practice in both California and Montana and before the United States District Court, Central District of California, Jeff is a member of the California and Montana State Bar Associations. Jeff received his J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley - Boalt Hall School of Law. He graduated, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California. He also received the Order of the Palm (Outstanding Senior) and earned a Certificate in Economics from Cambridge University, England. Currently, he is also on the Board of Directors of the West Shore Community Library in Lakeside, Montana.

 

Kala French Lougheed, Kalispell

Kala French Lougheed is a lifetime resident of the Flathead. A graduate of MSU and the University of Great Falls, she teaches high school history at Flathead High and Bridge Academy.

 

John Michael Myers, Kalispell

John Michael Myers is an attorney at Myers Law, P.L.L.C. in Whitefish, where he practices in civil litigation, business transactions, criminal defense, family law, and estate planning. He received a B.A. in History and Political Science from the Honors Program at Gonzaga University, in Spokane, Washington, and attended law school at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He is licensed to practice law in Montana, and retains admission to practice in Pennsylvania. In 2011 he was elected to a three-year term as a Board Trustee for School District 5 in Kalispell. He also currently sits on the Board of Directors for Samaritan House.

 

Joan Schmidt, Kalispell

Currently Program Coordinator of Flathead Suicide Prevention Project and Community Advocate, Joan Schmidt has served communities as a clinician and program manager through a variety of venues including hospitals, schools, mental health clinics and private consulting in culturally rich and economically diverse environments; rural, suburbia, inner city and American Indian Reservation.
